You Don't Look Like, What You've Been Through!
I was reading a passage of scripture recently that blessed me with revelation. The revelation was a pictorial of where God currently have me in life. The last 18 months have been a very challenging and difficult time for me. My entire life took a "Good Shakin", for the good. Problem is, I just realized that the shakin would ultimately lead me into a place with God that I wasn't prior to the shakin. Transition would be the best way to describe what's been happening around me. While conversating with a friend, I realized how good God had been to me. Favor, grace and mercy is what has been extended to me in a wonderful way. I am simply a product of Grace. I'm reminded of when the three Hebrew men came out of the fiery furnace, the text says that "they was not harmed, not one hair of their skin was even scorched and neither did they even smell like smoke". Wow, they definitely didn't look like what they had been through. I guess the whole reason of me expressing this blog was to encourage my readers to not get caught focusing on what we're going through, however, let's focus on the mercy, grace and favor of our God. Don't watch the storm, watch the storm stopper. Be blessed.............

Game #6 is a must win! ~ LAKERS......
All true Laker fans are requested to believe for the "Fellas" today. We have believed all season, thus there is no reason not to believe now. Let's put our confidence behind the "Fellas" and cheer them on. It will be a hard uphill battle being in "BEAN TOWN", however, we are made of steel and is up for the challenge. The worst thing Boston can do, will be to not win tonight. They don't want to see us in a Game 7. Remember, let the record show that the TRUE LAKER FANS BELIEVE until the end.

The NBA FINALS have begun.....LAKERS vs CELTICS
It all started last night in Boston. The NBA's two most prized franchises have revived their legendary rivalry. The Lakers met up with the Celtics for Game 1 of the 2008 NBA Finals. This legendary matchup has caused a media frenzy making it the talk of everyone's conversation. Last night did not start out well for the Lakers.
We lost the first game in Boston, what a sad evening. I really wanted the Lakers to win. We have won every series opener this playoff run. I'm not really worried due to our play last night. In my opinion, the Lakers played their worst game of the playoffs. Nothing went right for us on this night. It's ok. I'm a firm believer that we will rebound to win the series. Anyone in their right mind would understand that there is absolutely no way the Celtics can beat us in a 7 game series. Again, I repeat: "NO WAY"! The LAKERS are 12-4 in the playoffs. Meaning, we only have 4 wins to a championship. It's over for the Celtics. They will not win in Boston anymore this season.
HARRIS PREDICTION: We will win in six games. Sunday will be our win, along with two more here in LA and we will close them out in Boston in Game 6.

Is "TITHING" biblical in the 21st Century?
OLD TESTAMENT FINANCIAL ORDER
The Old Testament, especially as it relates to Israel, "The Church in the Wilderness" (Acts 7:38), sets forth many patterns and shadows of the New Testament Church.
• The pattern of worship is seen in the Tabernacle of Moses, and David and the Temple of Solomon order.
• The pattern of Priesthood is set out in the Aaronic and Levitical Priesthood order.
• The pattern of redemptive truth is set forth in the Feasts of the Lord.
• The pattern of Covenantal relationship is set out in the Covenants.
And so it is when it comes to financial matters and the support of the Lord's ministry and the house of the Lord. It is a matter that very few believers and Churches have studied. It is the only financial system that God ordained and blessed, and yet many failed to see it and the Divine principles therein.
• The pattern of Church Finances therefore is seen in the Old Testament Scriptures, especially amplified in Israel. Then the basic principles are carried over into the New Testament Church, which arose of the Old Testament Church.
In Studying God's order in Israel we find that their giving was covered in two areas called "Tithes and Offering" (Malachi 3:8).
We consider these two areas as in Israel and see how the principle of such overflows into New Testament Church.
1. Tithes The word "tithe" simply means "tenth". Tithing is actually a teacher to give. One hundred percent belongs to Lord. He gives us 9/10ths to use, but the first tenth He says is His. "The tithe is HOLY to the Lord" (Leviticus 27:30-33). The tithe is really not ours to give. It is already God's. He has claimed it as the first fruits of our increases. So in tithing we are giving to God what is already His.
A. Abraham – A Tither
The First account we have of tithing is in Genesis 14:17 – 20. Abraham tithed to Melchisedek in connection with receiving the bread and wine. We note some of the outstanding thoughts connected with this scene.
1. Abraham is the Father of all who believe (Romans 4).
2. Abraham gave tithes to Melchisdek, Priest of the Most High God; Tithes of all.
3. Abraham gave tithes before the Law Covenant existed. This was in connection with the Abrahamic Covenant. It was a specific amount.
4. Melchisedek gave Abraham communion of bread and wine.
5. Melchisedek is King of Righteousness and King of Peace (Hebrews 7)
6. Melchisedek blessed Abraham of the Most High God, the Possessor of heaven and earth.
Thus the first mention we have of tithing in the Scriptures is with Abraham and Melchisdek. The Books of Romans and Hebrews together show that believers are the seed of Abraham and that we are under the Order of Melchisdek Priesthood, as kings and priests with Christ Jesus. Also the Gospels show Jesus Christ, our King Priest establishing the Communion of bread and wine at the New Covenant table. Thus we share in the bread and wine and give our tithes to Melchisedek, Jesus Christ, who lives in the power of an endless life.
Tithing was before the Law, not of the Law. His Priesthood abides forever.
Can we claim to be children of Abraham and claim the communion and the Priesthood of Jesus and still neglect to give tithes in this covenantal relationship?
B. Jacob – a Tither
The Lord says "I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob." The next account we have of tithe giving is in Jacob. This was in connection with Bethel, the House of God. We note some of the salient points (Genesis 28:10 – 22).
1. Jacob has a God – given dream of a ladder reaching from heaven to earth.
2. The angels of God ascend and descend on the ladder.
3. The God of Covenant confirms the Abrahamic promises to Jacob.
4. Jacob anoints the Bethel Stone, calling it the House of God.
5. Jacob makes a vow to give tithes of all he receives from the Lord.
6. Jesus interprets the Ladder to be Himself, "the Son of Man" (John 1:51).
Thus Jacob has a visitation from God and undoubtedly kept his vow of tithes. We see how God blessed him in all his life. We note that this vow of tithing was before the giving of the Law. Those accept the God of Jacob, as the God of Abraham, will also keep their vow of tithes and give back to the Lord a tenth of all He gives. This is done at Bethel, the House of God. Angels, as ministering spirits, minister to the heirs of salvation, even as they did to Jacob (Hebrews 1:13, 14).
C. Israel - Tithers
The fullest revelation of the tithing order is found in the nation of Israel. The tithing here, though not of the Law, was confirmed under the Law. But it should be remembered that tithing did not originate under the Law.
Tithing was before the Law, but confirmed under the Law! Under the tithing system then we see the following:
1. The First or Lord's Tithe – Leviticus 27:30 – 33; Numbers 18:21; Nehemiah the Priestly Tribe of the Levites. Numbers 18:24 – 32 needs to be studied carefully for this. The Levities had no inheritance in the land but were kept by the tithes of the people. 12 tribes to the one tribe. This was called the Lord's Tithe (Leviticus 27:30 – 33). It went to the Levites, the ministers of the congregation (Numbers 18:21 – 24). The person in Israel had no control over it, received none of it back except in the services of the priests, who used it for their livelihood. In the restoration of the Temple after Babylon, the tithes were again given to the Levites (Nehemiah 10:37). Israel was to tithe all the increase each year (Deuteronomy 14:22). If any used their tithes then they were to pay 20% or 1/5th interest to the Lord for using His money (Leviticus 27:30).
2. The Tithe of the Tithe – Numbers 18:25 – 32. Not only did the 12 tribes tithe to the Levitical or Priestly tribe, this tribe in turn paid a "tithe of the tithe". It taught that the ministries were so obligated to tithe as were the people. How can ministers teach others to tithe and give if they themselves do not tithe or give? Thus Aaron and his sons received tithes (type of the Fivefold ministry of Ephesians 4:9 – 11). In times of restoration from Babylon the tithe of the tithes was given to sons of Aaron also (Nehemiah 10:38, 39). Tithes were put in chambers. The principle is that tithe of the tithes from local Churches may be kept aside for visiting ministries (1 Corinthians 9:7 – 14 with 1 Timothy 5:17 – 19; Nehemiah 13:10).
Not only did the Israelites tithe, they also gave offerings to the Lord, which were above and beyond their tithes. The secret of it all was THE BLESSING of the Lord. If a person does not give or pay tithes he is ROBBING GOD, for the tithe is not ours to give. It is already the Lord's. But if a person gives tithes and no offering he is not giving anything to God at all. God says "Prove Me now…" As Israel obeyed God there were abundant blessings.
We could divide Israel's giving into 7 groupings as follow:
1. Burnt Offering (Leviticus 1:1 – 3; Mark 10:21; Luke 19:8). Symbol of sacrifice of oneself.
2. Sacrifices of Thanksgiving (2 Samuel 24:24; Luke 2:24; 17:16; 1 Peter 2:5 – 9; Romans 12:1 – 2; Hebrews 13:13 – 16).
3. Heave Offerings (Numbers 18:8 – 29). Tithe of the tithes.
4. Vows – Conditional promise (Deuteronomy 16:6, 11; Psalm 22:25; 1 Samuel 1:11; Acts 18:18; Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5).

Gifts (Leviticus 23:38)
6. First Fruits (Exodus 34:22, 26; Nehemiah 10:37; Proverbs 3:9, 10; Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23).

Barack Obama - History in the making!
We'll it's been decided, Barack Obama has won the nomination as the Democratic Presidential candidate. It has been a whirlwind of an election thus far. His opponent, Sen. Hiliary Clinton lost by a narrow margin, thus making this the most historical primary in the history of the United States of America. He is the first black to reach this plateau and she is the first woman to reach the same. It was a complete dog fight until the end. The race has remained very close until yesterday when Barack Obama surpassed the 2117 delegate votes needed to secure the nomination. At this time, the Democratic party must spend some time unifiying the party. It's still a long road ahead to make history of having the first black President of the United States of America. Barack Obama must now compete agains Sen. John McCain in the general election which ends in November. I look forward to the journey. I congratulate Sen. Hiliary Clinton on a good campaign with alot of character and integrity. I believe that she will be a positive plus for the Democratic party. I'm not much on politics, however, I could not help but watch this historical run to the White House by these two influential leaders. And Barack marches on..........
Ministering at Calvary Baptist Church of San Fernando
Last week, I had the esteem priviledge of serving the Calvary Baptist Church of San Fernando, CA., as their evangelist. The occasion celebrated was there "Youth & Young Adult" emphasis week. It was a blessed meeting that began during their sunday morning service and continued throughout friday of that same week. Apostle William T. Broadus served as the host. He has pastored this congregation for 26 years, succeding his father Dr. Hilliary T. Broadus. This is one of the "mother" congregations of the San Fernando area with a rich legacy of ministry milestones. The services was awesome. The hand of God was really with us this week. Praise God! I'm completely grateful for the hospitality and spirit of love expressed by the members of this parish. Overall, it was a great time of fellowship and witness. I solicit your prayers for both this Pastor and congregation. I love their ministry vision that states "EVERYTHING WE DO LEADS TO WORSHIP". How awesome!!!

Summer Vacation For Full-Time Christians...
Summer is a much needed time of rest and relaxation for many people. And this break from the various responsibilities of home, work, or school is a good thing. However, there is no such thing as a vacation, leave-of-absence, or sabbatical from your responsibilities as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Mark 6:31, Jesus told his disciples, "Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while" (ESV).
This call also applies to present-day disciples. Even though your life in Christ is supernatural; it's not superhuman. And if you don't ever come apart, you'll fall apart. All of us need times of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. But remember that Christ's call to his disciples to come away was a call to go with him to rest, not to go without him. So vacate... with Christ. Here are several practical ways you can vacate with Christ.
Be marked present in corporate worship on the Lord's Day. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." I encourage you to make every effort to find a Christ-centered, Bible-believing church with which to worship God on the Lord's Day, wherever you are. Even as you have mad e plans for food, lodging, entertainment and all the other things that may be important to you, make plans for corporate worship. You found a hotel to stay in. Find a church to go to. Be marked present on the Lord's Day. Psalm 122:1 says, "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord!'" May that be your testimony.
Don't rob God. If you work hard, save wisely, and plan prayerfully, you have every right to enjoy your times of vacation. But Proverbs 3;9 exhorts: "Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce." Your vacation should not become an excuse to dishonor God with your finances. So avoid putting yourself in debt for the sake of a few days of recreation. Enjoy yourself, but stay within your means. And continue to financially support the ongoing work of the church. Remember that the ministry of the church goes on while you are on vacation. So don't rob God. And don't rob yourself by wasting your resources and missing your opportunity to make spiritual investments. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says: "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Use your extra time on some things that have eternal significance. Your vacation time is a great time to get some rest, enjoy your favorite hobbies, catch up on personal reading, try some new adventure, or just hang out with family and friends. All of these things have their place. But let me ask you something. How often have you said that you would pray more or read the word of God more, if you just had the time? How often have you though, felt, or said that you would do something for the Lord, if you just had the time? Well, your vacation is an opportunity to serve the Lord. No, you don't have to spend all your time doing ministry. But are you willing to spend any of your time doing ministry? Ephesians 5:15-17 says, "Look carefully then how you walk not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."
Enjoy yourself. That's an order. Have a good time on your vacation. Enjoy the Lord's goodness to you. Don't feel guilty about it. And don't let other people lay a guilt trip on you. God is not against your enjoyment of personal pleasure. 1 Timothy 6:17 tells us that God "richly provides us with everything to enjoy." God is the ultimate source of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17). God is the one that gives life and breath and all things (Acts 17:25). Friend, God is not some cosmic-killjoy, set on stopping everyone from having a good time. The Lord is not against pleasure. HE is only against those who are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3:4). So enjoy the blessings of the Lord, the graces of life, the fruit of your labor, the opportunity to travel, and the company of family and friends. but make sure you keep pleasure in its place. Or as 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "So, then, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
This call also applies to present-day disciples. Even though your life in Christ is supernatural; it's not superhuman. And if you don't ever come apart, you'll fall apart. All of us need times of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. But remember that Christ's call to his disciples to come away was a call to go with him to rest, not to go without him. So vacate... with Christ. Here are several practical ways you can vacate with Christ.
Be marked present in corporate worship on the Lord's Day. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." I encourage you to make every effort to find a Christ-centered, Bible-believing church with which to worship God on the Lord's Day, wherever you are. Even as you have mad e plans for food, lodging, entertainment and all the other things that may be important to you, make plans for corporate worship. You found a hotel to stay in. Find a church to go to. Be marked present on the Lord's Day. Psalm 122:1 says, "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord!'" May that be your testimony.
Don't rob God. If you work hard, save wisely, and plan prayerfully, you have every right to enjoy your times of vacation. But Proverbs 3;9 exhorts: "Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce." Your vacation should not become an excuse to dishonor God with your finances. So avoid putting yourself in debt for the sake of a few days of recreation. Enjoy yourself, but stay within your means. And continue to financially support the ongoing work of the church. Remember that the ministry of the church goes on while you are on vacation. So don't rob God. And don't rob yourself by wasting your resources and missing your opportunity to make spiritual investments. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says: "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Use your extra time on some things that have eternal significance. Your vacation time is a great time to get some rest, enjoy your favorite hobbies, catch up on personal reading, try some new adventure, or just hang out with family and friends. All of these things have their place. But let me ask you something. How often have you said that you would pray more or read the word of God more, if you just had the time? How often have you though, felt, or said that you would do something for the Lord, if you just had the time? Well, your vacation is an opportunity to serve the Lord. No, you don't have to spend all your time doing ministry. But are you willing to spend any of your time doing ministry? Ephesians 5:15-17 says, "Look carefully then how you walk not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."

It Looks Like A Sweep On The Horizon.....
Just for the record, the mighty LAKERS are up 2-0 against the World Champions San Antonio Spurs. The LAKERS have been so dominant in the first two games, It looks like we will sweep this team 4-0. Today is Game 3 and I look forward to the excitement that It brings. Our 2008 playoff record is 10-2, which means we are only 6 wins away from another Championship in LA. The LAKER fever has hit LA again. There is jerseys everywhere, car flags, die-hard fans on every corner and T-shirts/Hats on every individual...................It's a wrap for the SPURS.......Win or Go home!!!!!
This Just Don't Make Any SENSE! - Gas Prices...
I must admit that I am not happy with the current gas prices in America. For a person with a schedule like mines, $4.00 per gallon is not the price that most want to pay for gas. I just made history today when I actually purchased gas at this price. I stood at the attendant counter for a moment while paying and remembered that gas was $0.98 per gallon when I started to drive some 18 years ago. Mercy! I pray that whoever is elected to the Presidency of the United States will immediately address this issue with some instant results. I just wanted to vent about the gas prices. I recently recieved a list of the price of gas around the world and I want to share it with my blog readers. It's interesting............................Here it go:

My First Book- "It's In My Bones"
I would like to introduce to all of my family, friends and ministry partners, the presentation of my very first book. This new project is a long awaited dream and ministry goal. Praise God! I am excited about this opportunity and milestone in ministry. The book is entitled: "It's In My Bones". Western Conference Finals - We're on our way!
For the record, the Los Angeles Lakers are on their way to the Western Conference Finals. This is the first time they have made it since 2004. I am certain that they will make it all the way to win the championship. We have 8 wins behind us and 8 more to go for the championship ring. We will face either the San Antonio Spurs or the New Orleans Hornets in the next round. Continue cheering and praying for the fella's in the purple and gold. Our series will start this wednesday. GO LAKERS!

Ladie's Night @ INCREDIBLE PRAISE!
On yesterday, I again visited the Zion Baptist Evangelical Temple in Compton for the fifth service of "INCREDIBLE PRAISE". This service is purposed to be the premier worship experience for Young Adults here in southern california. It is a vision of Dr. Kevin Stafford that individuals from various churches can come together and praise & worship God. This month's service was "LADIE'S NIGHT" honoring three Incredible/Outstanding Women of our community. The Executive Board honored the legendary Ms. Edna Tatum, Dr. Rodena Preston and the lovely Mrs. Catherine Stafford for their many achievements over the past 30 plus years. It was a night to remember. The red carpet was definitely rolled out for these "DIVAS" of the faith. The award ceremony went really well and I believe that they were really appreciative for the honor. Their resume' of accomplishments are filled with many areas of success. The attendance was ok, however, the momentum and flow was at an all time high. Pastors, ministers, evangelists and musical guests was present and participatory (my new word). There was a great delegation of youth and young adults. The special guest were an anointed dance ministry from Los Angeles, CA named "GODZ FAVOR". These young ladies were surely on fire for the Lord. This month we were blessed with a musical selection from "Mutha" herself, Sis. Zanette Brown, the lead singer of the Miracle Mass Choir. Our worship leader for the evening was Evangelist Elena Nixon. Pastor Charles Williams served as the host of the award ceremony. Pastor Najuma Smith served as the Keynote Speaker for the evening. Pastor Smith serves as the leader of the St. James AME Church in LA. What a powerful and well received word. What a night. The people of God was blessed and I look forward to round #6 which will take place on May 17th @ 6pm sharp! This service is postured to take place every 3rd sunday of the month. I send a shout of to the ministry team of IP and ZBET for their spirit of excellence and servanthood. You will do yourself a favor to not miss the next "INCREDIBLE PRAISE". Making History - My Ride On The City Bus!
I live in Southern California where one of the major modes of transportation is the city bus. I have lived here for over 20 years and have finally had the priviledge of riding on the city bus. I'm glad to report that it was all voluntarily for me, I didn't have to ride on it, I wanted too. I was recently having a conversation with my daughter about being spoiled and grateful. It was then that she reminded me that she should be pampered by me cause she feels that I was a pampered, spoiled rotten kid as a child. She suggested to me that I have never HAD to use public transportation as a means of travel along with a few other examples as to her reason of why she felt that I was spoiled. I don't know how she has come to this conclusion but it did spark an excitement in me to take a ride using city transportation.
So on Sunday evening, after the Laker's second loss of the 2008 playoffs, I walked out of my home and headed for the nearest bus stop. It was interesting, cause I did not even have no idea of how much the fare was to ride the bus. I questioned certain people there at the bus stop who patiently waited for the bus to come. It was an interesting scene. A couple was there waiting for the bus, there was another young man there listening to his IPOD waiting for the bus, there was a senior woman there with about 4 bags (which appeared to be some groceries) waiting for the bus and there was a young lady all by herself there waiting for the bus. I was excited as I too stood there waiting for the bus. I had no idea where I was going on the bus, I just wanted to take a ride and pray that I will know how to get back home.
Finally, the bus came. My adrenaline was at an all-time high. I got in line and was the last one to enter. I paid the fare and quickly found a seat. Once on the bus, I was amazed that it actually had TV's on there to watch while riding. There were advertisements on the walls and ceiling of the bus. There were people talking, sitting, reading, singing and even sleeping while riding. What a sight to see! I actually rode the bus about 5 miles before I thought to get off and take the same line back in the direction of my home. I got on my connecting bus and made my way back home. The ride took about 1 hour and it was a great experience! I really appreciated the experience. It reminded me of how blessed I am to not have to do this on a regular basis. I have had a car since the age of 14 which would suggest that I'm very blessed in this regard. Yes, I did say 14, my mother actually purchased me a car two years prior to me being eligible to recieve a California Drivers License. Since that time, I have always been fortunate to have at least two cars. What a mighty God we serve. When I consider that some use this as means of transportation for everything that they do, I am blessed! Not only with the means of having a car but also with the ability of being able to efficiently and properly operate a motor vehicle. I am appreciative for this experience. I can now say to my daughter that I have experienced using public transportation. Be Blessed!!!!!!!!!!

Shooting The Rock!
Yesterday, I began my workout regimine again by playing basketball with the fellas. I must admit that I have not played in almost three months. The court where I play on a regular basis has been closed for remoldeling. Therefore, the group who I play with have chosen to play at other places and times. It was really good seeing and playing with these fellas again. The gymnasium is completely new with floor and clock and to top it all off, the new colors are purple and gold. I love it!
After not playing for a while, I am a little sore this morning with a few nicks and bruises. I will be ok. After about two weeks, I will be back in ballin shape and my game will be all the way back. I had a mediocre day of playing, however, this is not enough comparing the talent that I play with on a regular basis. Truthfully, there were several of us who left the gym limping or walking with soreness. Basically, I believe all of the fellas are a bit out of shape. I look forward to shooting the rock twice a week again. It is very healthy and it provides good fellowship with the brethern. Welcome back to the court!!!!!!!!!!

KOBE has won the 2008 MVP Award!
Finally, the NBA has determined that Kobe Bryant is the 2007-2008 league Most Valuable Player. It is without a shadow of a doubt that he is the best player on the planet. He stands alone in a category all by himself as far as his ability to master the sport. Every now and then, there are those who are unbelievable at their sport and he is one. I dont think that the NBA has seen another well rounded player since the days of Michael Jordan. Kobe Bryant is in his 11th NBA season and has proven that he is a phenomenon. He has the most records both team and league for active players. He is an unstoppable force on the offense and a beast defensively.
So many dislike this sports hero from the confusion and unlikely moments earlier in his career with Shaq. Though I'm glad that Shaq is no longer a Laker, I believe that it was a dire mistake when he departed LA in 2003. Together, he and Kobe could have delivered 4 to 5 more championships to LA. This season has been by far Kobe's best. He has turned around a team in a matter of one year. Together with the rest of his teammates, they have proven that they are the BEST team in the league. At this current time, the Lakers are the only undefeated team in the playoffs. WOW!
The statistics can prove he deserves this year's top honor. He ended the season as the second leading scorer, a member of the first defensive team and in the top five in 6 different categories. What a season. He led his team to the top spot in the Western Conference. This conference has been a dog fight since the early days of December. I think it takes a great team with a focus for winning to accomplish such a task. Now, our eyes is on the prize, the championship. A fourth ring for the world best athlete. After the Finals, he will represent his country in the 2008 Olympic Games this summer. I am extremely excited over the fact that my favorite player has brought home the well deserved top individual honor. Congratulations Kobe on a wonderful season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Ridiculous Request?
I just wanted to share with my blog readers an interesting blog from a friend of mine named Evangelist Maureen Chen from Toronto, Canada. Joshua 10:12 - On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon."
In this past Tuesday night Bible study, we read this scripture passage among others but this one left me in total awe of just how big our God is. I won't go into the background of the request because it won't be relevant to you or me today. What we see here is Joshua making a request that to us may seem impossible. How can God cause the sun to stand still? That's an incredibly tall order. Consider this, the sun does not move, therefore in order the sun to "stand still", God had to stop the earth from moving. In order to stop the earth from moving, God had to take care of quite a few details. The rivers that to stop running, the waves had settle down, climate had to cease briefly, I could go on and on. Basically there were several details that had to be taken care of.
Let's make this relevant to our battles. What types of circumstance are you facing that need a ridiculous request from God? Is it the type that you know there is absolutely no way that you can fix it on your own? Or could it be the type that you think God Himself cannot handle? Look again at the scripture reference above. Joshua was facing the battle of his life in unfamiliar territory. He needed the extra sunlight so instead of complaining, worrying or even giving in; he contacted his God, the God of Israel.
God is waiting for us to approach Him with the BIG ones; the type of requests where we will know without a shadow of a doubt that He came through for us. Three years ago, my prayer partner was told that his nephew was given one week to live because cancer had spread through his entire body. He called me and we prayed because that was a BIG one. That was a "God we need you to stop the earth from moving and take care of all the details" request. Three years later and this young man who was given one week to live is still alive. God is still answering the BIG ones and He's waiting patiently for us to trust Him to answer those ridiculous requests.
I felt lead to share this and I hope it blesses and encourages someone today.

In the Bible, the word “anoint” simply means to pour, spread, or rub oil onto something or someone. For instance, Genesis 28:18 says, “So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and sat it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it” (ESV). In other words, he anointed it. Then he consecrated the place (28:19) and made a vow to the Lord (28:22-24).
Literally, anointing is about oil. But it is spoken of three different ways in scripture. First, there is a physical anointing for healing (James 5:14-15), cosmetics (Ruth 3:3; Matt. 6:17, hospitality (Ps. 23:4; Luke 7:46), or burial (Mark. 14:8). Likewise, there was a ritual anointing. This was a symbolic act that was applied to people, places, and objects. As it relates to people, prophets (1 Kings 19:16), priests (Exod. 28:41) and kings (1 Sam. 10:1) were ritually anointed for consecration (Exod. 20:26-29; 40:12-15), empowerment (1 Sam. 16:13), and protection (1 Chron. 16:22, Ps. 105:15). Thirdly, there was a spiritual anointing. And this spiritual anointing requires that we draw a distinction between the anointing in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.
Seven passages in the New Testament refer to this spiritual anointing. Four of these seven passages refer to the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 4:18; Acts 4:27; 10:38; Heb. 1:9). The other three passages speak of the anointing in the life of Christians. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” 1 John 2:20 says, “But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.” And 1 John 2:27 says, “But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie – just as it has taught you, abide in him.” These three passages make several points about the place of the anointing in the New Testament church.
The anointing is a sovereign act of God. God anoints people. People do not anoint other people. These biblical statements make it clear that God is source, Jesus Christ is the means, and the Holy Spirit is the agent through which believers receive the anointing. And it is non-transferable. So having “Bishop Big-Shot” lay his hands on you will not allow you to share in his so-called “anointing.” And having “Rev.Wanna-Be” put oil on you will only make you greasy!
The anointing is universal. That is, all Christians are anointed. There are not some Christians who have the anointing and some who do not. If you are a Christian, you have been anointed. Period. And, by the way, scripture gives no indication of different levels of anointing. So saying that someone is “so anointed,” is as uselessly redundant as saying that someone is “so Christian.” God perfectly and equally anoints every believer. The only difference would be in how we walk in this anointing, I guess.
The anointing is automatic, permanent, and continual. The New Testament does not teach that Christians receive the anointing. Rather, it teaches that you have already received it. We don’t need to pray for it or tarry for it or anything else like that. The anointing is standard equipment of salvation that everyone receives when they place saving-faith in Christ. Likewise, you cannot lose the anointing. When, I was a boy preacher, an older woman warned me that the devil would try to use women to steal my anointing. And her warning scared the daylights out of me! But I now understand that, while she may have had godly concern and sincere motives, her terminology was wrong. Maybe she should have just exhorted be to be holy and warned me about the divine consequences of sin, rather than confusing me about the anointing. There is no evidence in the New Testament that true Christians can lose their anointing.Sin, people, and disobedience cannot steal your anointing any more than sin can steal your salvation!
The anointing is directly connected to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The anointing is not about where you are in God. It’s about where God is in you! Primarily, the anointing is a positional reality, not an experiential one. It’s about your standing in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, Paul declares, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” With these words, scripture directly connects the anointing with the sealing and guarantee of the Holy Spirit. In other words, to have the Spirit is to have the anointing.
The anointing is for spiritual understanding. This is the point of 1 John 2:20 and 2:27. But it is often neglected. Don’t misunderstand these two verses. John is not ruling out the necessity of human teachers. That would contradict what the New Testament teaches in other places, affirming the important role of sound and godly teachers. It simply means that we have an internal source of spiritual understanding in the person and work of the Holy Spirit in our lives that frees us from being slaves to human teachers, theories, or traditions.
The New Testament doctrine of the anointing is meant to warn and encourage the church to stand firm against false teachers. Unfortunately, I really don’t hear those who speak so much about the anointing give this explanation of its meaning and place in the believer’s life. Many take passages from Isaiah to define the anointing as the “yoke-destroying, burden-removing, power of God.” Indeed, the power of God is as real now as it was then. But in the New Testament, access to this divine power is directly connected to a person, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Anointed One. It is not about a feeling, experience, impartation, gifting, or blessing. The fact is that every true believer has been indwelt by the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9b). And we live with the power of the life-giving King dwelling on the inside. And he is there to give us understanding of all that is ours in Christ Jesus so that we may live out the life of the teachings of our faith (John 16:13-15; 1 Co. 2:14-16).
We often speak of the anointing in terms of empowerment. Maybe we should start thinking and speaking of it in terms of understanding. Let me say it as clearly as I can: If you are in Christ, you do not need to be anointed. You are anointed! May this biblical truth and wonderful reality give you confidence as you read, study, listen to, embrace, and obey the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

In the Bible, the word “anoint” simply means to pour, spread, or rub oil onto something or someone. For instance, Genesis 28:18 says, “So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and sat it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it” (ESV). In other words, he anointed it. Then he consecrated the place (28:19) and made a vow to the Lord (28:22-24).
Literally, anointing is about oil. But it is spoken of three different ways in scripture. First, there is a physical anointing for healing (James 5:14-15), cosmetics (Ruth 3:3; Matt. 6:17, hospitality (Ps. 23:4; Luke 7:46), or burial (Mark. 14:8). Likewise, there was a ritual anointing. This was a symbolic act that was applied to people, places, and objects. As it relates to people, prophets (1 Kings 19:16), priests (Exod. 28:41) and kings (1 Sam. 10:1) were ritually anointed for consecration (Exod. 20:26-29; 40:12-15), empowerment (1 Sam. 16:13), and protection (1 Chron. 16:22, Ps. 105:15). Thirdly, there was a spiritual anointing. And this spiritual anointing requires that we draw a distinction between the anointing in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.
Seven passages in the New Testament refer to this spiritual anointing. Four of these seven passages refer to the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 4:18; Acts 4:27; 10:38; Heb. 1:9). The other three passages speak of the anointing in the life of Christians. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” 1 John 2:20 says, “But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.” And 1 John 2:27 says, “But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie – just as it has taught you, abide in him.” These three passages make several points about the place of the anointing in the New Testament church.
The anointing is a sovereign act of God. God anoints people. People do not anoint other people. These biblical statements make it clear that God is source, Jesus Christ is the means, and the Holy Spirit is the agent through which believers receive the anointing. And it is non-transferable. So having “Bishop Big-Shot” lay his hands on you will not allow you to share in his so-called “anointing.” And having “Rev.Wanna-Be” put oil on you will only make you greasy!
The anointing is universal. That is, all Christians are anointed. There are not some Christians who have the anointing and some who do not. If you are a Christian, you have been anointed. Period. And, by the way, scripture gives no indication of different levels of anointing. So saying that someone is “so anointed,” is as uselessly redundant as saying that someone is “so Christian.” God perfectly and equally anoints every believer. The only difference would be in how we walk in this anointing, I guess.
The anointing is automatic, permanent, and continual. The New Testament does not teach that Christians receive the anointing. Rather, it teaches that you have already received it. We don’t need to pray for it or tarry for it or anything else like that. The anointing is standard equipment of salvation that everyone receives when they place saving-faith in Christ. Likewise, you cannot lose the anointing. When, I was a boy preacher, an older woman warned me that the devil would try to use women to steal my anointing. And her warning scared the daylights out of me! But I now understand that, while she may have had godly concern and sincere motives, her terminology was wrong. Maybe she should have just exhorted be to be holy and warned me about the divine consequences of sin, rather than confusing me about the anointing. There is no evidence in the New Testament that true Christians can lose their anointing.Sin, people, and disobedience cannot steal your anointing any more than sin can steal your salvation!
The anointing is directly connected to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The anointing is not about where you are in God. It’s about where God is in you! Primarily, the anointing is a positional reality, not an experiential one. It’s about your standing in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, Paul declares, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” With these words, scripture directly connects the anointing with the sealing and guarantee of the Holy Spirit. In other words, to have the Spirit is to have the anointing.
The anointing is for spiritual understanding. This is the point of 1 John 2:20 and 2:27. But it is often neglected. Don’t misunderstand these two verses. John is not ruling out the necessity of human teachers. That would contradict what the New Testament teaches in other places, affirming the important role of sound and godly teachers. It simply means that we have an internal source of spiritual understanding in the person and work of the Holy Spirit in our lives that frees us from being slaves to human teachers, theories, or traditions.
The New Testament doctrine of the anointing is meant to warn and encourage the church to stand firm against false teachers. Unfortunately, I really don’t hear those who speak so much about the anointing give this explanation of its meaning and place in the believer’s life. Many take passages from Isaiah to define the anointing as the “yoke-destroying, burden-removing, power of God.” Indeed, the power of God is as real now as it was then. But in the New Testament, access to this divine power is directly connected to a person, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Anointed One. It is not about a feeling, experience, impartation, gifting, or blessing. The fact is that every true believer has been indwelt by the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9b). And we live with the power of the life-giving King dwelling on the inside. And he is there to give us understanding of all that is ours in Christ Jesus so that we may live out the life of the teachings of our faith (John 16:13-15; 1 Co. 2:14-16).
We often speak of the anointing in terms of empowerment. Maybe we should start thinking and speaking of it in terms of understanding. Let me say it as clearly as I can: If you are in Christ, you do not need to be anointed. You are anointed! May this biblical truth and wonderful reality give you confidence as you read, study, listen to, embrace, and obey the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Mourning the life of a Legend: Dr. Evron E. Stafford
On April 8, 2008, the church community was shaken as they mourned the loss of a great and legendary leader, Dr. Evron E. Stafford. Dr. Stafford served the Los Angeles Christian community for more than 45 years. He served as the Senior Pastor of the historical Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church for more than 30 years. He is known as the "GODFATHER" to many Pastor's and Ministers across the country and world. More than 7,000 people responded to the call of salvation through his ministry. Mt. Tabor has always been a leading congreation here in the LA area.
Mt. Tabor was organized June 29, 1958 in the sanctuary of the Three Oaks Baptist Church with Dr. H. D. Higdon, deceased Pastor of the Israel Baptist Church and the late Dr. N.E. Taylor, deceased pastor of the Zion Baptist Temple of Compton officiating. The Group of ninety-nine baptized believers moved about from place to place worshipping in homes, sometimes garages until Dr. J. T. Stewart of Shreveport, Louisiana was called to pastor the newly organized church. Dr. Stewart accepted the call July 1958. Due to failing health, Dr. Stewart retired December 16, 1976 and was given the Honorary Title of Pastor Emeritus by the membership. Reverend B. D. Eldridge was very instrumental and did a wonderful job in keeping the membership together until a pastor was able to close his pastorate in Shreveport Louisiana and officially take over the leadership of our Church. Reverend Evorn E. Stafford of Los Angeles was called to Pastor Mount Tabor and accepted this responsibility July 17, 1977. Pastor Stafford was serving as an Assistant Pastor at the Paradise Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Pastor Stafford began right away to lay the groundwork for the success experienced by our Church once he became Pastor.
We purchased and converted lots on 67th and 65th Streets for additional parking space. Our facilities expanded to include the property on the Southeast corner of 66th Street and we purchased the property on the northeast corner of 66th Street. In addition to the never ending duties as Pastor of Mt. Tabor, President Stafford served as a member of the Fellowship Baptist District Association, past President of California United Baptist State Convention and Corresponding Secretary for the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. We are blessed with a great Pastor who strives for a wholesome and joyful atmosphere for all the Church Family. He teaches us to care and be concerned for our brothers and sisters in Christ. In that vein, the Lord has allowed us to continue our bus ministry to visit the sick and the shut-in and reach out to the community through our radio ministry. Twice a year our members and friends donate clothing which we give to those in need and we distributed food to the Community during the year. As we look back, we can see that Mt. Tabor has been tremendously successful under the leadership of two gracious leaders that we have been privileged to call Pastor over 48 years. Dr. Stafford leaves to cherish his memory a lovely wife of more than 40 years, one son and two daughters. He will be cherished and missed. My visit to April's INCREDIBLE PRAISE!
Sorry that this blog is almost 2 weeks late. But here is the latest report on this month's INCREDIBLE PRAISE. On April 20th, I again visited the Zion Baptist Evangelical Temple in Compton for the fourth service of "INCREDIBLE PRAISE". This service is purposed to be the premier worship experience for Young Adults here in southern california. It is a vision of Dr. Kevin Stafford that individuals from various churches can come together and praise & worship God. This month's service was "WORSHIP WITHOUT LIMITS". The attendance was down, however, the momentum and flow was at an all time high. Pastors, ministers, evangelists and musical guests was present and participatory (my new word). There was a great delegation of youth and young adults. The special guest were an anointed dance ministry from Los Angeles, CA named "The JOY Praise Dancers". These young people were surely on fire for the Lord. This month we were blessed with a lecture from Min. Stacey Neale. Min. Neale is a member of ZBET and he was a blessing. Min. Neale is one of those who were blessed with the gift of preaching. He basically came from the womb preaching. This lecture was only his third sermon ever and what a wonderful job he did. The Rev. Tyron Delbert Robinson served as the Keynote Speaker. Rev. Robinson serves as the Pastor of the Kingdom Builders Christian Fellowship of LA. What a powerful and well received word. What a night. The people of God was blessed and I look forward to round #5 which will take place on May 19th @ 6pm sharp! This service is postured to take place every 3rd sunday of the month. Speaking Engagements throughout the month of April
The month of April as far as ministry was busy for me, but not with preaching assignments as usual. My regular day to day schedule was hectic and I thank God for the strength to perform the tasks at hand. Though I'm always grateful for the many preaching opportunities that is extended to me outside of the ministry where I pastor, I'm always thankful for what we call the easy months. This month, I only ministered three times at other churches and twice it was for the same church. I ministered on saturday April 9th at a Youth & Young adult prayer breakfast for the Mt. Zion MBC here in Los Angeles. I also ministered last Friday evening for them during their pre-anniversary services honoring their Pastor and Wife. The Mt. Zion church is led by the legendary Dr. James Toldson. I have always had a great appreciation for the man and his ministry. Dr. Toldson is a great friend of my grandfather and has always been kind to me during my years of ministry. As a matter of fact, I cherish the fact that over 20 years ago, it was he that extended an opportunity to me to minister my second sermon ever at the Mt. Zion Church. I preached for his anniversary in my grandfathers place. WOW! Twenty years later and I am sharing with this church for the same occasion. What a blessing. Their Youth & Young Adult prayer breakfast was held at the Hawthorne Airport Ballroom. Both services was a blessing and the great people was very hospitable.
On this past sunday, I also had the great honor of sharing with my good friend, Dr. Michael Albert and the people of the Mt. Aaron church. It was the 4th Pastoral Anniversary of Dr. Albert. How To Memorize Scripture
He was in the wilderness. He was exhausted. He was hungry and thirsty. He was alone. He was attacked by the Devil. He was armed with the word of God. He was victorious. With confidence in the sacred scriptures, Jesus prevailed against the Enemy's deceitful schemes (see Matt. 4:1-11). The Lord defeated Satan with three verses from Deuteronomy. How much more can you I resist temptation, live obediently, and endure hardship if we get the word of God into our hearts and minds through scripture memorization.
There are very few spiritual disciplines that are more beneficial than scripture memorization. It arms you with truth to resist temptation. It renews your mind as you meditate on scripture. It shapes and strengthens your prayer life, enabling you to pray the scriptures back to God. It makes the wisdom of God readily available for decision-making. It arms you with biblical authority for counseling fellow-believers or witnessing to lost people. It gives comfort in times of grief, sorrow, and persecution. And it fills your mind and mouth with truth to offer as grateful praise to God in worship.
Here are seven steps you can take to begin and stay on track down the narrow but life-giving path of scripture memorization.
1. Have a plan.
When left alone, good intentions suffocate spiritual progress. Godly desires must have the fresh air of practical commitments in order to breathe and live and grow. So establish a definite plan for scripture memorization - a plan that works for you. Decide when you will do it. Select what verses you are going to memorize. Have a plan and establish measurable, challenging, attainable goals.
2. Start small.
Don't begin by telling yourself that you are going to memorize a chapter a week. No you’re not. And your failure will only discourage you in the future. Remember, each victory will help you another to win. So start small and build on your successes. One or two verses a week is a good place to begin.
3. Select verses that are meaningful to you.
The Bible is filled with hundreds of verses worth memorizing. Many profitable Bible memory systems are also available. And pastors and teachers may encourage you to memorize certain passages. Draw from all of these sources for ideas. But also select your own memory verses. Choose passages that are meaningful to you and that you find helpful.
4. Make memory cards to keep with you.
Write out the verse on a card that you can take wherever you go. And when you have spare moments – on a break, in a waiting room, or between activities – you can read, review, and recite your memory verses.
5. Get a Bible memory partner.
Do you have a prayer partner? If not, you should. A good prayer partner can give you support, hold you accountable, and celebrate victories with you. A good Bible memorization partner can do the same. Iron sharpens iron. So consider partnering with someone for mutual support in memorizing scripture.
6. Keep practicing your verses.
Scripture memorization does not come easy for most of us. But don’t be too quick to blame it on a poor memory. Scripture memorization is spiritual warfare. But our spiritual enemy cannot prevail against the word of God. So keep practicing your verses until you get them down. Then constantly review them. Remember, repetition is the key to memorization.
7. Pray for God’s help.
Do you fear that you cannot memorize scripture? Tell God about your fears. Do you need strength to remain focused? Ask the Lord for it. Do you need wisdom for selecting verses or managing your quiet time? Pray with confidence for these things. God is glorified as you learn to think and behave biblically. So labor and pray and trust the Lord to help you to make the word a treasure in your heart, so that you might not sin against him (Ps. 119:11).

Taking Back What The Devil Stole!
I just wanted to share with my blog readers an interesting blog from a friend of mine named Rev. H.B.Charles Jr. He is the Senior Pastor of Mt. Sinai MBC in Los Angeles. He often share blogs that encourage me and make me think everyday. He is also an author and contributing writer for several published books. He has been named one of the most sought after revivalist in the country. He is one of the most prolific and profound expositor preachers of this day. “I’m taking back everything the Devil stole from me!” Have you ever heard this statement? Have you ever made this statement? Have you ever thought about what this statement means?
Spiritual catchphrases. Theological sound bites. Pulpit ear tickling. Harmful error set to beautiful music. Nonsense. These things are the order of the day. Consequently, many of our lives and churches are preoccupied with superficial things, rather than the God-centered, Christ-exalting, Spirit-empowered, life-transforming, and culture-engaging mission and message of the gospel.
For instance, there is a popular "Gospel" song that declares God to be faithful and holy. But the response to these divine perfections is this: “I’m reaching the harvest God promised me. Take back what the devil stole from me.” Well, at least it rhymes. I think. I also think this way of thinking tries to make God our puppet.
The consideration of God’s attributes should cause us to respond with reverent worship, the confession of sin, and a passion to serve him. At least, that’s how Isaiah responded to the sovereign holiness of God (see Isaiah 6). But a true encounter with the majesty and supremacy of God will definitely not result in a militant determination to fight the Devil over the stuff he supposedly stole from you.
The Bible describes our great spiritual enemy in many different ways. It tells us that Satan is a murderer and a liar and a deceiver. The Devil is even pictured in scripture as a serpent and a roaring lion and a dragon. But the Bible does not say much about the Devil being a thief. In John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” But the “thief” Jesus is referring to is not Satan. He’s talking about false religious leaders! And, if Jesus was talking about Satan, why it is that we are only concerned about what he has stolen? Shouldn’t we be just as concerned about what he kills and destroys?
Beyond what the scripture tells us about Satan, we should also think about what it says about following Christ. We are to fight. Stand firm. Resist. Watch. And pray. But the instructions the New Testament give about spiritual warfare do not teach us that we should try to take anything back from devil. This is not the focus of the Christian life in any way. And talk like this only trivializes the biblical and historic Christian faith.
What stuff we are to take back from the Devil? If you let the high profile religious personalities tell it, we are to take back our families, health, wealth, joy, ministries, etc. Let the church say, “Huh?” This is really bad theology. It suggests that Satan is behind every adverse, difficult, or unpleasant thing that happens in our lives. And it fails to embrace the Lord’s sovereign authority, providential wisdom, and good purposes at work in our lives, including our bad times.
This way of thinking about fails to recognize that some challenges we face in life are the result of sin – both others and ours. Sometimes, we lose things because God will not be mocked. We reap what we sow (Gal. 6:9).
And there’s another important theological word that describes why some bad things happen: life. Life happens to all of us. Following Christ does not guarantee happy marriages, financial success, perfect health, problem-free relationships, or carefree circumstances. However, Christianity gives us resources for facing life challenges that unbelievers do not have. We can pray and trust and obey and wait and rejoice and love and forgive and give and serve in the midst of and in spite of life’s difficulties. But Christianity does not teach believers to attack the devil and reclaim stolen stuff from him.
In Ephesians 1:3, Paul declares, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places…” Did you get that? In Christ, we are perfectly, completely, and irrevocably blessed. And we should praise God for it. But to neglect our great spiritual blessings in Christ and focus on things you think the Devil has stolen from you is to dishonor the unfailing promises of God, the redemptive work of Christ, and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. That’s like Bill Gates crying because he lost one hundred dollars. So I recommend that you let the Devil keep whatever he has stolen from you! Friend, if the Lord Jesus is the Forgiver of your sins and the Leader of your life, you have too many blessings to enjoy and bless God for to worry about what the Devil supposedly stole from you.

And it fails to embrace the Lord’s sovereign authority, providential wisdom, and good purposes at work in our lives, including our bad times.
This way of thinking about fails to recognize that some challenges we face in life are the result of sin – both others and ours. Sometimes, we lose things because God will not be mocked. We reap what we sow (Gal. 6:9).
And there’s another important theological word that describes why some bad things happen: life. Life happens to all of us. Following Christ does not guarantee happy marriages, financial success, perfect health, problem-free relationships, or carefree circumstances. However, Christianity gives us resources for facing life challenges that unbelievers do not have. We can pray and trust and obey and wait and rejoice and love and forgive and give and serve in the midst of and in spite of life’s difficulties. But Christianity does not teach believers to attack the devil and reclaim stolen stuff from him.
In Ephesians 1:3, Paul declares, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places…” Did you get that? In Christ, we are perfectly, completely, and irrevocably blessed. And we should praise God for it. But to neglect our great spiritual blessings in Christ and focus on things you think the Devil has stolen from you is to dishonor the unfailing promises of God, the redemptive work of Christ, and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. That’s like Bill Gates crying because he lost one hundred dollars. So I recommend that you let the Devil keep whatever he has stolen from you! Friend, if the Lord Jesus is the Forgiver of your sins and the Leader of your life, you have too many blessings to enjoy and bless God for to worry about what the Devil supposedly stole from you.

40 years Later - In Remembrance of Dr. MLK Jr.
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the assasination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is no stranger to this country or even the world, so therefore I don't have to introduce him to you. It was exactly 40 years ago that this Civil Rights Leader was assasinated by Mr. James Earl Ray. It happened in Memphis, TN at the Lorraine Motel. The night prior to His death, Dr. King delivered his final speech "I've Been To The Mountaintop" to a packed audience at the historical Mason Temple there in Memphis. Mason Temple is the headquarters for the Church of God in Christ denomination. Here is the closing stanza from his farewell speech:
"Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord".

Elijah - Resting In God
“Then he went on alone into the desert, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, Lord," he said. "Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors." Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree.”
(1 kings 19:4-5)
"I have had enough, Lord," he said. "Take my life…” Are you tried? Oh, if someone told you the trails and tribulations that you have to face when accepting Christ into your life, would you have ran away into the desert? Even today, I speak to many Christians who feel beaten up. They have been so faithful for some long that sometimes they long to bypass living in this world and long to worship Our Father in Heaven. Some long to be just like Elijah and ask that the Lord take the Breath from away them.
But what did the Lord do? He sent an Angel to Feed Elijah. Why didn’t he let Elijah die as he requested, because God has a greater plan than death for his life. For the Lord let Elijah rest, but soon the Father Call him to the mountain to see his Glory. Beloved, I know there are many of us at different stages in our life. Some many Christians today feel like they are died to God and his purpose for their life, but I tell you this, you are just sleeping underneath the Broom tree! If it was God wills for you to die, you would be dead. But, God has kept you and sustains you even through all your circumstances.
“And he did deliver us from Death and will continue to deliver us.” (2 Corinthians 1:10) God will never forsake you. He has delivered you from death and he will continue to deliver you. Elijah lay under the tree and asked to die, but God did not take his life, he sustained it. Never give up! God is calling that in this time of Pressure and in this time of need, we should be broken and down on our knees in Prayer asking for relief.
“While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God. So even though Jesus was God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.”
(Hebrew 5:7-8) “With a Loud cry and tears…Jesus was God’s Son; he learned obedience from the things he suffered.” Even the Jesus Cried and Suffered, how much more do we suffer? It is by loud cries and tears that the Lord answers our prayers and pleading. If you are feeling the pressure to give up, cry out to Jesus. Cry out to our Father in Heaven to send his Angel to be by your side. Elijah thought he was running away from the Father in the Desert to die, but what he didn’t realize that he was running into the arms of the Lord. Even when you are feeling the pressure to give up, know that the Lord is not ready for you to give in.
Believe, Believe, Believe! Rise up, for the Lord your God’s purpose for your Life was not death, but life eternally and eternity with him starts today!

Sweet 16 ~ Happy Birthday Breanna!
I can't even believe that I have a child that have passed the age of 16. I never shall forget the day that she was born. It was an amazing experience in my life. My life was literally changed forever. The day was March 29, 1992, in Hollywood, CA, Breanna Jaqual Harris was born into the world. My precious daughter. I was right there from beginning to end. It was the day of the enfamous "Rodney King" verdict. I remember watching the news of the verdict announcement after I came out of the delivery room. Though the world was about to enter complete chaos, I was enjoying the happiness of being a new father. She was released from the hospital on April 2, which was the day that the "LA Riots" started. What a tragedy. Her first day in real civilization was the beginning of a city in turmoil. I remember asking the hospital for extra bottles and diapers due to the stores being looted and on fire.
Sixteen years later and my precious one is still here. She is a sophmore in High School and a STAR on her track team. I love her dearly and thank her for being the wonderful daughter that she is. I am thankful for her intelligence (she get that from me), wisdom and integrity. She is a good girl if I must say myself. On her "SWEET 16", I had the priviledge of sharing the entire day with her. I almost could not believe it myself but, she actually wanted to share this special day with her father. Dont I feel blessed. I would think that a 16 year old would have other plans that did not include her Father. I guess that suggests that I am a pretty fun Father. Interesting....Mmmmmm! We just kind of hung out and had some much needed fun. Congratulations........Breanna. Your Father loves you with all of his heart. I salute you! I ask that all of my blog reader would keep her in your prayers. Her desire is to be a television news anchor. Watch out NIGHTLINE..........here comes Breanna............

Merciful Savior!
While riding in my car today and talking with a friend, I drifted away from the conversation and began to sing a song that was in my heart. I then realized that the song was an original flowing from my spirit. Often times, when this happens, I just fail to recognize my creative flow and return to what I was previously doing. Well today, the friend that I was talking with, just picked up the song from where I left off. How amazing! Well here is the lyrics and I pray that they bless you. The mercies of God is what prompted the words and ministry. I will add music to it soon and you will hear it at the next Stellar Awards. Believe It! My visit to March's INCREDIBLE PRAISE!
Sorry that this blog is almost 2 weeks late. But here is the latest report on this month's INCREDIBLE PRAISE. On March 16th, I again visited the Zion Baptist Evangelical Temple in Compton for the third service of "INCREDIBLE PRAISE". This service is purposed to be the premier worship experience for Young Adults here in southern california. It is a vision of Dr. Kevin Stafford that individuals from various churches can come together and praise & worship God. This month's service was "AWESOME". The attendance, momentum and flow was at an all time high as usual. Pastors, ministers, evangelists and musical guests was present and participatory (my new word). There was a great delegation of youth and young adults. The special guest were an anointed music ministry from Los Angeles, CA called A-TONE & Team Jesus and Rev. Theo Wilkins & Barack. These young people are surely on fire for the Lord. This month we did not have a lecturer, however Overseer Johnny Withers served as the Keynote Speaker. What a powerful and well received word. Overseer Withers serves as the Senior Pastor of Unity Christian Fellowship of Long Beach. What a night. The people of God was blessed and I look forward to round #3 which will take place on Mar. 16th @ 7pm sharp! This service is postured to take place every 3rd sunday of the month. I send a shout of to the ministry team of IP and ZBET for their spirit of excellence and servanthood. You will do yourself a favor to not miss the next "INCREDIBLE PRAISE". To all of my myspace friends, I have placed a video on my page of Bishop Robert W. McMurray. He is the original Pastor of Greater Bethany Community Church now (The City of Refuge, Bishop Noel Jones). It was during my early days of ministry that I would frequently visit this church. I believe that it was during this time that my spiritual foundation was planted. He was a great man. In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the preparation of Easter and Passover holidays. He decided to contact his lawyer about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while atheists had no holiday to celebrate. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the long passionate presentation by the lawyer, the Judge banged his gavel and declared, "Case Dismissed!" The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, 'Your Honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter, the Lord's Supper, and many other observances. Jews have Hanukkah, Passover, Yom Kippur and many other feast days...yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!
The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said, 'Obviously your client is too confused to even know about, much less celebrate his own atheists 'Holiday!' The lawyer pompously said, 'Your Honor, we are unaware of any such holiday for atheists. Just when might that holiday be, your Honor?' The judge said, 'Well it comes every year on exactly the same date - April 1st! Since our calendar sets April 1st as 'April Fools' Day,' consider that Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, in my opinion, if your client says there is no God, then by Scripture, he is a fool, and April 1st is his holiday! Now have a good day and get out of my courtroom!!! Way to go, Judge! AMEN.

Tips on Pumping Gas (VERY IMPORTANT INFO)
I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline.... but here inCalifornia we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon.But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are sometricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon..
Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA wedeliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular andpremium grades.We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of16,800,000 gallons.
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when theground temperature is still cold.Remember that all service stationshave their storage tanks buried below ground.The colder the ground, the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon.
In the petroleum business, the specific gravity andthe temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and otherpetroleum products plays an important role.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business.But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to afast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three(3)stages: low, middle, and high.In slow mode you should be pumping onlow speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return.If you are> pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tankbecomes vapor.Those vapors are being sucked up and back into theunderground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALFFULL or HALF EMPTY.The reason for this is, the more gas you have inyour tank the less air occupying its empty space.Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine.Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof.This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas andthe atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.

I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline.... but here inCalifornia we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon.But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are sometricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon..
Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA wedeliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular andpremium grades.We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of16,800,000 gallons.
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when theground temperature is still cold.Remember that all service stationshave their storage tanks buried below ground.The colder the ground, the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon.
In the petroleum business, the specific gravity andthe temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and otherpetroleum products plays an important role.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business.But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to afast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three(3)stages: low, middle, and high.In slow mode you should be pumping onlow speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return.If you are> pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tankbecomes vapor.Those vapors are being sucked up and back into theunderground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALFFULL or HALF EMPTY.The reason for this is, the more gas you have inyour tank the less air occupying its empty space.Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine.Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof.This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas andthe atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.

"ESCAPISM" - A New Word For 4 Me

How do you handle your times in the valley or in the wilderness? How do you handle situations that you don't particularly like to be in? Most of us complain about it or pray for a way out it. I was thinking about that very thing this morning. There is a certain situation I had been praying that God would change, then this morning He spoke to me and said why didn't I pray that He would show me how to "go through it". We need to learn to be content where we are instead of seeking a route of escape. Whether we like it or not, there are some things we must go through. The valleys are needful in our lives. The wilderness does play a part. Even prisons, captivity, persecutions all can play a role in God's purpose and scheme of things. The backside of the dessert was a valuable place for Moses. The prison was a stepping stone to the palace for Joseph. Being presented before a heathen king was a set up for Esther. Too often we pray for a way out of the very place that we must go through in order to get us to where God wants to take us. His plan for you may take you to the valley. It took Jesus into the wilderness (Matthew 4), and the cross. If we would begin to pray that the Lord would show us how to go through it instead of how to escape out of it, we would benefit from it in the long run. We need to learn to be content instead of always wanting a way out just because it doesn't "suit" us. His grace is sufficient to see us through. This place that we are so eager to escape may be what brings us to the threshold of our destiny.Have a great day. Instead of complaining and trying to escape where you are, pray the Lord will show you "how" to go through it.

I Will Not Retreat

I WILL NOT RETREAT
Read Exodus 6:13
Right after God told Moses what He would do, He said to him, "You must believe it. I command you to do this thing." "Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt" (v. 13 NIV).God was saying, "This is going to happen. The Israelites will come out of Egypt. This isn't wishful thinking or a nice sentiment. I intend to bring it to pass. Get ready to execute the plan."So often the arrow that penetrates our soul at the weakest point is our unbelief. We know in our heads what God has said, but it takes faith to put it into gear, to get out there and start practicing what He has told us to do. Then and there, at that split-second of hesitation, the battle is won or lost.This is how we need to pray, even when we feel as if we never want to pray again: "Lord, I don't feel like praying right now, but hear my prayer anyway. Lord, I will believe You, even though the tide is rising, and I'm already on tip-toe. I will believe You, even though it seems like it's taking You forever to keep Your promise. I will believe You, even though I've come to the ragged end of my strength, the dregs of my hope, the broken shards of my plans. I will not look for a shortcut. I will not rely on a carnal option. I will not retreat from the battle. I will believe You!"God's promise to Moses is the same to us: "Because I am who I am, I will do what is best for you." There isn't a day on this side of eternity, no matter how grim, that can't be improved by clinging to that reassuring thought.
