My visit to the 2008 Prayer Bowl!

For the 15th consecutive year I attended the Annual New Years Day prayer bowl. It is a interdenominational worship service that is attended by thousands. It has become a tradition for many cities across america with the foundation being the one here in LA. Los Angeles's prayer bowl is hosted by Dr. Melvin Wade and the Mt. Moriah B.C. 38 years ago, the church's founder, Dr. Earl Pleasant started this tradition of Christians starting their year praising and giving thanks unto God. The service begins at 9am and lasts until late evening. The program consists of preaching every hour by some of LA's most prominent ministers. This year the special guest speakers were: Pastor L. Daniel Williams, Pastor Earl Pleasant Jr., Pastor Billy Ingram, Pastor Lewis Logan, Pastor Andrew Turner, Pastor E.V. Hill II, Pastor Michael Fisher and Pastor H.B. Charles Jr. Unfortunately, I only had the priviledge of hearing three of the speakers and they were all encouraging and uplifting. The day is filled also with great singing from many soloist and choirs from throughout Greater LA. It's usually serves as a time of good fellowship for those that one have not seen in a good while. I always enjoy the prayer bowl. My prayers go out to Pastor Wade and the Mt. Moriah church family for continually hosting the church community on this special day. Again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
